Hikaru nodded quietly, then drank the last of her coffee. She was still a little confused at the change in Jasper, but she never had been good at understanding people.
"I'll go speak with her, sir," Hikaru responded before turning and leaving with out any other preamble. She had a bit of a walk to the training field from their current point. Plenty of time for her to ruminate on this change of events.
Her? Council? The council lead others under Jasper's orders. She had never... lead. She had always followed.
It was one thing to lead a team of soldiers during an assignment. Or to take charge in the event of an emergency. Both things she was familiar with and capable of. But to be Council determined so much more.
She wasn't scared, or insecure in the face of such responsibility. Hikaru would face whatever came her way. She just needed time to process what this meant for her and how to proceed.
And she had plenty of time to think on her way back to camp

Hikaru was gone before much else could be said. As always she was adamant to get her next assignment underway, and it was something Jasper appreciated. There was no complaint or backtalk, just someone who was ready to do what was necessary to keep things going. She had gained his trust, his friendship, and she was starting to gain more than that but even with the thought that finally, he had someone to depend on a heaviness rested on his shoulders he simply could not shake. His smile faded from his face once more, tired eyes watching as she faded further into the distance. There was no peace of mind for him. Not anymore.A Commendation is now closed. Please do not reply.
