Context: Kopa is a young cub, out with his father who is still alive. Kopa is still arrogant, but less so. He is wide-eyed and curious, and loves to explore. But something his dad says confuses him. This would be part one of my little short story. This is just something I thought I could try out.
Part One:
"Wow!" he exclaimed. He loved to explore the Pridelands. He stopped as he heard paw steps. He turned to see who it was, and smiled widely when he noticed it was his father, Simba. "Dad!" he said, then realized that he had snuck out, and his smile melted. Oops. "Um, dad, I- I... um... er..." he had no idea what to say, but his dad didn't look angry. In fact, he smiled. "I understand that you want to explore, I did to," Simba walked over, sitting next to the waterhole nearby. Kopa followed him. "But that can also get you into trouble," Simba finished, looking directly at Kopa. Kopa frowned. "But..." he trailed off. He didn't know what else to say. Kopa had always looked up to his dad, and he always would. He didn't think anything would change that. But his words seemed to slip off the young cub. His next words also slipped of the cub. "And if it comes down to it... you is better than me. So don't slip," Kopa frowned. "Huh?" his dad didn't hear him though, and continued.
"Dad, it's not like you're going anywhere," Kopa said, and Simba only seemed to smile at this. Kopa then spotted a bug landing on a tree nearby. Kopa lept towards the bug, but it flew away before he could catch it. Simba laughed, yet Kopa couldn't tell why. He grumbled.
Part One:
The Lost Prince
The sun was rising over the vast savannah. Blue eyes opened. Kopa had woken up, yawning. The young prince had never really been the one to sleep in. There was just to much to explore! Of course, though, he could explore anywhere he wanted! However, that's what he thought. He had noticed that he was the only one up. He snuck quietly out of the den, and then, after a few moments, was outside of Pride Rock. Kopa excitedly looked over the Pridelands. His home. The only place Kopa felt at home. The sun shone lightly on Kopa's face, and he blew the tuft of hair he had out of his face. Kopa jumped down from a safe height and raced across the savannah. "Wow!" he exclaimed.
