Backstory:
Once a mortal Hessian who met his demise by a stray cannonball during battle, the Headless Horseman became a nameless phantom and went on to terrorize the citizens of Sleepy Hollow. Every Halloween night he’d rise from the battlefield in search of his missing head, and if he failed to find it he’d simply replace it...with someone else’s.
Local legend claimed the Horseman’s only weakness was a bridge at the edge of the woods. One simply had to reach the other side to be free of his infamous wrath. This theory would be put to the test one fateful night by a schoolmaster named Ichabod Crane. The Headless Horseman came upon Crane as he was traveling home from the Van Tassel’s Halloween party and pursued him mercilessly through the forest. Crane miraculously survived, despite nearly losing his head several times, once he crossed the fabled bridge. But the Horseman would have the last laugh when he threw his flaming jack-o-lantern and struck the schoolmaster, scaring him away from Sleepy Hollow for good.
And so the legend continued for many years after...until the Hessian’s head was recovered and stolen away. Now on a quest to reclaim his head once and for all, the Headless Horseman won’t let a war stop him from having his revenge. In fact, it might be fun reliving the glory days!
