Kion also cocked an eyebrow at his brother's strange statement. "Riiight...." Seemed they were all a bit backwards and turned around since Dad's death. Shaking his head, Kion followed after Kopa. "So ... what kind of meal are we talking about?" The prince asked Silver, turning to look at the odd man as he walked. "...A fresh antelope maybe?" He said hopefully. He didn't -like- having to hunt, but if he had to take a preference it would be antelope.
Then maybe after breakfast, he could talk to Kiara and see about doing a round of the Pridelands with the Lion Guard. Someone needed to be on patrol after all.

Kopa shrugged. "I'm not very hungry, I'm just gonna go to Pride Rock." With that, he walked towards Pride Rock without another word.

“So ... what kind of meal are we talking about?" Silver heard the leader of the lion guard question "...A fresh antelope maybe?" Silver shook his head with a smirk, “Nay lad, Nay. Tis kudu on the menu this lovely morning along with a few other things” Silver gives a shrug to Kopa once he announced he wasn’t hungry. “Suite yourself laddie, there are sure to be leftovers whenever you are” he assured the teenager as he made his way back to camp pouring the water in a pot to be boiled and sanitized later or- “Hikaru?” He barked out, his tone sharp, commanding suddenly. “Got a new task for you. I assume the kudu is all butchered and ready to go?” He questioned, scanning with his cybernetic eye for his helper. “Yer job is to sanitize the water I just brought for the troops to drink. Think you can do that?” Tagging: Hikaru , Kion , Kopa

Hikaru was standing off to the side drying her hands. She had just finished washing them with soapy water of the blood from butchering the kudu. She hooked the cloth over a ring on a pole to dry.
"Yes sir, I'll set to boiling it," she slipped past Silver to the cauldron of water. She glanced at the set up for the fire beneath the blackened metal. Hm, the wood was mostly coals. It could use a little more fuel.
The woman turned to a cart with dried wood gathered from the trees that dotted the sarengeti, and feched out a bundle. She promptly arranged them under the cauldron. Hikaru soon coaxed a strong fire to heat up the cauldron.
Hikaru briskly dusted her hands and returned to Silver in the mess hall kitchen.

"Yes sir, I'll set to boiling it,"“Good lass, good” his mechanical hand claps the girl on the shoulder in praise before she skidded off to tend the fire. “Can you cut off a slab of meat for our young friend here?” He motioned to Kion who was presumably somewhere behind or next to him. “The lad is keen on breakfast” he chuckled, he moved over to grab a plate and handed it to Hikaru. He then turned to Kion and drops down into a chair. “Is yer brother gonna be ok? I know nothing that I can say will help you, I hardly knew your father when he was alive unfortunately” his lips pursed in thin frown. “But If there is a way I can help your family just tell me. Any food they like I can do that, custom ordered” He rumbled softy, Hikaru Kion Kopa

She nodded in acknowledgement of Silver's praise, but otherwise seemed unmoved, proceeding along her way. It may come off as cold to some, but Hikaru was just a simple person. What was there to say?
"There are already a few steak cuts already," she turned her gaze to Kion, her stare even and simple on the lion, "Which would you like? Flank? Strip?"
Even if Kion requested a different cut, or something more specific, it would be a simple matter for Hikaru to butcher off the piece... even if she did just get finished cleaning her hands of blood residue. The kudu had been stacked in storage, waiting for Silver's preparations, whether it be for today's meal, or to be preserved for the future.
Hikaru was a fast worker who didn't complain, whether it be butchering meat, scrubbing plates, or disposing garbage. Perfect to help Silver with the arduous and important task of keeping the forces of the Freedom Fighters fed. It is said that an army ran on it's stomach and Silver made sure that those stomachs were as full as can be.
They made an interesting pair, the boisterous cook and his near silent assistant, but a great one.

"Thanks Silver. That's really nice of you." Kion stated the thanks almost automatically. It was just in his nature to try to be kind and polite, and the strange alien man had been more than kind to him this morning. It just stood to reason. He watched, slightly puzzled as the two humans prattled on about the preparations for the food, really only understanding that they were serving kudu and that sounded...surprisingly good.
"Um..the fatty part of the flank." He said, in response to Hikaru's question of what he would like. The fatty part of the flank was the best part, in his opinion. He always had to fight with Kiara and Kopa over it. It was just so thick and juicy and tender. "Please." He added the last part as an afterthought. Might as well be polite.

Hikaru nodded at Kion's request. She had that piece of the flank butchered. Hikaru snatched up a large tin plate and then picked her way through the mess tent to the storage area where they kept the perishables before Silver had gotten to them.
The butchered pieces were individually wrapped in plastic to keep the flies off of it. Sanitation was difficult in the Serengeti but was still of utmost importance. But they also had limited supplies. They couldn't afford to use disposable methods of care such as the saran wrap Hikaru had been accustomed to back in New York. Instead they had sheets that were similar to cuts of tarp. The fact that they were sturdier made it easier to reuse them, but that also meant they needed to be clean.
Of course scrubbing and then boiling to sanitize the food tarps were one of the many crap jobs Silver delegated to her.
Hikaru shifted through the wrapped packages and then located the specific cut Kion requested. She unwrapped it and unceremoniously flapped it onto the tin plate she had. Hikaru folded the tarp, tossed it in a bucket for easy retrieval later and then returned to Kion and Silver. Hikaru knelt and slid the plate in front of Kion with a nod of her head.

"Thanks." Kion nodded in acknowledgement to Hikaru before sniffing the food curiously. It had a slightly different scent and texture to antelope, but still smelled delicious. Instead of digging in viciously which was his instinct, he delicately pulled off a strip with his teeth and began to chew it quietly and politely. Perhaps it was being in a room of strangers, but he felt a bit self-conscious about giving in to his instincts, even if he was still just a cub. It just felt rude to start snapping and biting at a piece of meat in front of them.

Enormous wings carried Marahute almost silently towards the Freedom Fighter's Camp. Crimson hues easily spotted the mass of tents and other dwellings that made up the camp and the Haast Eagle tucked her wings against her body to dive down towards the centre of the encampment.
Marahute landed with a thud, her sharp talons leaving indentations in the dusty ground beneath her from both her sheer weight and the force with which she had landed. The Haast Eagle glanced around, shuffling her wings into a more comfortable position before she caught the scent of meat close by. The great golden eagle decided to go in search of the source of the scent; her flight from Australia had been incredibly long and arduous and she had worked up a fierce appetite.
