XX words Note: (I want Mega to start it off so it can be easier for others.) XXX January 7, Dawn Kopa sat on the pinnacle of Pride Rock, watching the sun rise over the savannah. He waited until the sun was fulling showing over the hills and sighed. He felt a personal bond with the sky, yet he didn't know why. His eyes wandered and for a moment he forgot where he was. He stood on his paws and tilted his head up as the last trickles of night burned away. He wondered if he was always going to be alone...

Mega strides up the massive rock as he watches the young prince sit and watch the sunrise. “Your father was very generous, you know?” Mega started from behind the teen. “Not to many lion pride would allow a group of complete strangers move into their territory” he gives a sad smile as he thought about the king. “He was a good king, Kopa” he was a few feet behind the teenage staring beyond at the Pridelands. “You are lucky, getting to see this view every morning”

“Your father was very generous, you know?”...“Not to many lion pride would allow a group of complete strangers move into their territory,”...“He was a good king, Kopa.”
Kopa whipped around instinctively only to see it was Mega. His shoulders relaxed and he smiled at his remark. "Yes...he was, I just wish I could have saved him..." his voice broke. He couldn't comprehend how much it hurt to say that. He blamed himself. He could have saved him! Couldn't he have? He honestly hoped so. He felt tears fall from his face but he turned away from Mega before he could see.

Mega shifted to sit down next to the teenage, listening to him talk. “We all feel like that. Don’t beat yourself up over it, cause in the end we can’t do anything although we wish we could, your mother and siblings are thinking the exact same thing you are” the male says, watching Kopa turn away from him no doubt to hide his tears from his friend. “Crying helps. Let it out” WORDS 000 TAGS @tagged NOTES --- |

Kopa turned and wiped the tears from his face with his paw. "Are the Kings of the Pridelands always destined to die early? My grandfather died to my great uncle... now my father. If I had become King of the Pridelands before this war began, would I have died as well? Could I have lived up to what my father had done even if I had become king?" Kopa choked back his fear as he realized what he just said. he heard Mega say to let the tears out. "I'm fine..." he said shakingly, but he knew he was lying.

Kion was lying close by on the flat sheet of rock just before the den. The cub had his head resting on crossed paws, his back legs stretched out, fiery tail tuft twitching morosely. He looked unusually mopey, ears drooped, eyes half-open and sad. Mouth stretched in a gentle upside down U shape. He knew he should try to comfort Kopa. But Kion didn't feel like doing anything. He was too depressed. All he wanted to do was lie around and mope. He missed Dad.

Kopa saw Kion down below the giant rock and wondered what and why he looked so miserable. Kopa walked down the massive rock and strode up towards his younger brother. "Hey, why do you look so down?" but in his mind he kind of already knew the answer.

"No, defiantly no it's just that-" he pauses struggling for a moment to explain to the young prince. "Things happen outside of their control, Your grandfather had no clue that his brother would kill him i suppose" he frowned "You won't die young" Mega said, he knew however that wasn't a promise, Kopa could trip and off all the tip of this rock for all he knew. He couldn't control how things turned out. The male dips his head to gently nudge against Kopa comforting him as he allows the tears to fall.
"I'm fine..."
"In time you will be" he says softly. The young lion finally pulls away from Mega having spotted his brother and moved over to talk to him. Mega follows slightly behind him. "Mornin, Kion" Mega greeted with a soft smile

Kopa turned. "Hey Mega, do you want to Patrol the Pridelands?" he turned to Kion. "You can too." He just wanted to get away from the Pridelands. He thought maybe they could wander in the Outlands.

None of the Pridelands' royal children seemed to have slept within the den this night. Dawn's breaking of the night sky had found the crown princess atop the pinnacle of Pride Rock. Her father had brought her here many a time for the beginning of her dawn lessons, as Mufasa had with Simba before. As the kings of the past had for countless generations, and as she no doubt would in the future as queen. If she lived to have cubs, of course. The cub of cream gold sat alone as the rays of the day stretched their lazy grip over the surface of the kingdom below. From her perch it looked like a flood of life upon the savannah, brushing out from Pride Rock and spreading into the surrounding territory. The beauty felt lost on her however, as lost as she herself was within the grip of exhaustion. Not merely a physical exhaustion but a weight of despair that held her paws like the grip of a crocodile.
Kiara missed her father. She missed the days of peace. She even missed being woken before dawn -- at least then she'd had a reason. Now she merely echoed the habit, gaze searching the sunrise as though it might provide the answer to every question she couldn't form. Eventually though the sun parted from the horizon and began its climb higher, signaling the end of the morning's mourning ritual for the princess.
Heart heavy Kiara padded down the path leading from the pinnacle, though she paused at the flattening of the slope when she noticed her brothers and the accompanying lion Mega. Kiara shuddered a weary sigh before attempting to smile, a shallow expression that didn't even brush her eyes. "Morning."
