Backstory:
Daughter of Sarafina, and a rouge lion that she doesn't remember, Nala remembers and relishes the days of her cubhood growing up in the pridelands with her friends. The days where life was fun and easy, where there were no problems.
Then, in one day, things all took a sharp turn.
The day Mufasa died, the day she thought she lost her best friend, the day Scar took over the pridelands was the day Nala's childhood ended. Dark days lie ahead for the pridelands.
As Nala grew into a young lioness, she held on to some tiny glimmer of hope that Scar's tyranny would end before he ended them. This glimmer of hope, as well as the sight of her suffering pridesisters, pushed Nala to go out and search for help. What she never expected to find was her old childhood friend.
Seeing Simba alive was both a huge relief, as well as a low blow, seeing him living a seemingly perfectly happy life off in the jungle while the pride suffered and starved back home. Nala pushed those thoughts aside at first, merely happy to see Simba again. However, when he refused to return to the pridelands, she quickly grew angry, the two fought and Simba had stormed off in a huff.
Later confused that she couldn't find Simba anywhere, it came as a surprise, and relief, to find out that he had left to go back to the pridelands. Nala quickly took off after him, catching up just in time to help Simba fight for the pridelands.
After Scar was banished, along with his followers, the pridelands recovered from the drought, and Simba took his place as king, with Nala at his side as queen.
It wasn't long after that Kopa was born, then Kiara and Kion followed. For a short while, it seemed Nala would be able to raise her cubs in peace. Then the war broke out and her world was quickly thrown into chaos once more, only this time it was the death of Simba that was the cause of the pride's turmoil.
Still, Nala held her head up high despite her grief over her lost mate, for her children, and her pride.
