Jan 18th Nil wasn’t out on any mission of any sort. She was there because that was her wish. As had become the norm for the fairy, she assumed the appearance of an oversized thylacine beast. It afforded her a good disguise that most sane people would find intimidating enough to leave alone. That and it made longer strides, letting her clear great distances easier. The late morning sun was slowly on the rise in the partly cloudy light blue sky. The lighting made the beast’s cobalt coat more visible than it would have been if it was night. There was a rural town dangerously nearby the meadow where she stalked. It appeared it wasn’t her goal to go around unnoticed. In fact, Nil didn’t have any goal in mind. Not yet. She would occupy herself as soon as something interesting caught her eye. Whether that goal benefit her faction as a whole or just herself was anyone’s guess.

The feeling of oddity that bloomed within Gary's chest was something they had not yet grown used too. Being so far from 'home' put them off their usual laid-back pace, and tension ran down along their spine even though they were determined not to show it if they could.
The wolf's hand like paws were placed firmly in their pockets as they strolled around the outskirts of the town. They could come and go as they pleased most of the time away from the main Rogue turf as long as they reported where they were going and for how long. It was why they were even there in the first place, far from the Court of Miracles and safety of the Rogue 'nest'.
Gary was typically pretty tentative about going out on their own but something had nipped them in the tail to get out and go explore where they currently resided.
What they didn't realize is that they would spot a cobalt blue thylacine lingering around the tall grass that bordered the civilization.
They stood completely still as their dark gaze caught sight of it. Breath held tightly in their chest for a long solid moment. Their memory desperately trying to recall if they had ever seen this beast before. They had no recollection of it, and from where they stood and where the wind drifted towards them they come up with the conclusion that Nil was most likely an enemy. Perhaps they should have beelined it out of there. But if they moved, she would spot them, wouldn't she? Shit.

It was difficult to tell what the fairy creature was thinking, given the current lack of expression on her features. In fact, it was hard to say if the creature was sentient in the first place and not just some kind of beast driven by instinct alone. Of course, Nil was thinking, but this form was a mysterious figure that local legends were made of -- not something to be understood. That was half of the point of it.
Pace slowed until she stood in the center of the meadow. The morning ambiance of birds was all that was audible from there. The long-jawed head turned until it looked in the direction of the rural town. Fin-like ears fanned out. For a while she just stared the settlement down. Then, the creature turned and began to walk steadily toward human habitation.
The town was the clear center of her focus, so much so that it was impossible to say if she even saw Gary at all. But she was closing the distance.
