February 18th, Year 1 Fingertips grazed across the water's cool surface as Mortaray stayed crouched by its shore. Its coolness was surprising against the heat that surrounded him and while he would typically be intrigued by such a thing his thoughts were elsewhere. His focus on something that he deemed more important than the refreshment of the water. Everything over the last few weeks had gone so agonizingly slow or too rapid for him to keep track. The long days of training ghazi warriors had begun to blend together and honestly he could barely keep up anymore. It was a maze of confusion in his mind, and on top of it all, he was starting to rethink his place in the Blackblood Legion. Ever since Frollo came around there felt as though there was a sort of tension among the Overseers. He couldn't quite place his finger on it but he knew the change in them could be bad whatever it was. Even with that thought, he wasn't exactly prioritizing that train of thinking. The only thing he could seriously think about was the Shadow Man. They were both overseers and while they could get together for meetings, Mortaray pretty much worked dawn til dusk to get the soldiers to be at their best. It killed all other activities he had and that meant short times for bonding with his childhood friend. When he had joined the Legion he had been overjoyed to discover his best friend was alive but now it was just a heartache he was unsure of how to deal with... He scrubbed a hand over his face before letting his head drop lightly. There was just so much on his mind and he did not know how to handle it. Still though, like always he could not focus on such things constantly. The scuffle of foliage near him had his gaze turn towards the noise. A frown pulling at his lips. "Who's there?"

“I’m mighty surprised you didn’t figure out it was me just by my presence.”
The lanky man stepped out of seemingly nowhere, with his shadow trailing behind him. The shadow picked up a handful of oasis sand with curiosity, before dropping it back in place. Meanwhile, Facilier joined his childhood friend by the water’s edge, resting a hand on the other’s shoulder as he took his hat off, revealing a mess of curly hair.
It was like the two of them were kids again. His violet eyes met Mortaray’s, and his mischievous grin fell into a concerned expression.
“What’s wrong Morty? You look worried, like somethin’ bad is gonna happen.” Facilier asked, patting the other’s shoulder reassuringly.
He had a small hunch it was because of the circumstances they were currently involved in. With Frollo’s return, things had become very tense between most of the overseers, save for him, Nasira, Mortaray, and a few others. He himself had been far too busy with focusing in on his main goal, and the animal souls weren’t keeping the Loa too satisfied. They wanted more, and Facilier was all for doing anything that would prevent him from being thrown back into limbo.
And that led to the next thing. Because of how busy they’d been, the two of them hadn’t had much time to even catch up. Mortaray knew nothing of the hell he had to endure at the hands of that damn Tiana and her little froggy prince, and he had been left to pick up the pieces after Facilier disappeared.

"My senses seem to be a bit off put these days, Facilier." The tension that had crept up into his muscles was soon demolished at the all too recognizable chime of his most favorite companion. Facilier was like the chime of his life, once he rang in it all of his fears up and vanished. His frets all fell to the ground and were swallowed up whole by the light that the Shadow man seemed to radiate for him.
A small semblance of what appeared to be a smile flourished onto the tired overseer's features, and again it was apparent that Facilier just changed the Skinwalker's whole demeanor. It had been like that since they were kids, and it didn't seem like it was ever gonna stop. His shoulders relaxed under the clasp of the other's hand, his own moved to rest over Facilier's thinner fingers. Just enjoying the touch while he could. With his other hand, he lightly gestured of the lanky voodoo man to sit down beside him. Properly sitting down after he had done so. With a soft sigh, he shook his head.
"Nothing's wrong, at least I don't think it is. Things have just been busy, far too busy for the both of us," There was a small delay once he admitted that as if he attempted to back reel in his mind and simply couldn't. His mind a tangled mess of too much going on. "It has been years since we have last seen each other properly, dear friend. So much has changed, I have changed. There... there is so much hurt and it is," He sighed roughly. "It's hard for me to speak about such things. I have missed you so much, and it's so frustrating to know that it has been so long. To know that you've gone such a long time without hearing what I have got to say to you, and I know it's not fair on you either. Especially after having to deal with whatever they put you through... I don't want our unions to be unpleasant but there is so much I want to tell you."
