Thomas is a follower - not a leader. When he does try to take initiative, he puts his fellow comrades in danger by making poor or cowardly decisions. He means well, but he's not cut out to be in charge of anything due to his inexperience.
Backstory:
John Smith became involved with the Virginia Company of London's plan to colonize Virginia for profit for it had been granted a charter by King James. The expedition set sail in three small ships: the Discovery, the Susan Constant, and the Godspeed. Thomas, who had idolized Smith, said goodbye to his family and boarded the Discovery with Ben, Lon and of course, Smith himself.
That was two years ago. Though Thomas had learned a lot in those two years (like how to shoot properly), he was still pretty naïve. Naïve enough to join the Blackblood Legion.
