"Tch, this place is a shambles!"
Edna Mode was complaining. Again. Apparently, she didn't even need somebody to listen to her to voice her complaints. "Such rudimentary buildings, egh! My goodness, you'd think an army would have better headquarters than this."
Of course, she wasn't aware of the move that had happened recently, but still, Edna believed in beautiful surroundings regardless. She wouldn't refuse to work where work needed doing because of it - she was not a drama queen on the same level as some of the supermodels she had designed for - but still, she was never one to shy away from expressing distaste.
"That building certainly would benefit from a large alteration...it could be so much more elegant."
Making a mental checklist of things she could improve as she walked, she quite forgot that her original purpose was to find members of the army she intended to sign up to join.

In response, a member of the army was to find Edna instead.
The rope collar that encircled Amaraq's neck held no metal or tags to chink and clink as they'd peered around the corner of one of the newly-built buildings, ears pricked and gaze considering. It hadn't been their job that day to patrol the area surrounding the Dawnseekers' encampment, so at first the appearance of a small human hadn't offered any perturbence. To the citizen of an ice age Edna's appearance was odd to say the least -- not the most outlandish they'd seen since their sled team had been volunteered for service -- but odd adorning what appeared to be a typical human.
Lifting a velvet brown nose Amaraq sampled the breeze. This tiny person didn't carry with them the scents of freshcut wood and the menagerie of tastes that had blended into what they associated with the Dawnseekers; that made them an encroacher. The growl Amaraq let out was more a requirement than genuine, letting go of the element of surprise in order to announce their presence before padding out to confront Edna. They carried no hesitation in the easy trot that carried them through the snow.
The bulk born from mixing wolf's blood with the barely-domesticated breed of early dog kept them at an eye level with Edna. If Edna proved to be a threat Amaraq was clearly confident that they could handle it. The expression on their face wasn't hostile however but curious as they brazenly shoved their nose forward to sniff at the odd leather-looking material of her outfit.
What was that??
