Backstory:
Sarabi was born in a distant pride who lived near the ocean, the eldest cub of the king and queen of the pride. She and her sisters had an idyllic life playing in the sea and sand dunes of their home, carefree and happy. However, when Sarabi became a teenager, she was suddenly asked to leave her home and family and go to the Pridelands as Queen Uru and King Ahadi had chosen her as a bride for their eldest son and heir, Mufasa. The deal had been made when Sarabi was only a newborn and so she did as her family asked of her and left for the Pridelands accompanied by her sisters: Naanda, Diku, and Dwala who she couldn't bear to leave behind.
Adjusting to life in the Pridelands was not easy. Initially Mufasa wanted nothing really to do with her and his brother was just as apathetic to her. She found more success with the other lionesses but she still felt most comfortable around her sisters than her new pride mates initially. Mufasa did eventually change his attitude about her and for that Sarabi was thankful, grateful that her betrothed would at least give her a chance to get to know him instead of being forced into a marriage with someone who despised her.
By the time Uru and Ahadi finally passed the throne to Mufasa, she had fallen in love with her mate and he with her in return. She gave him a single cub: Simba, her pride and joy.
Happiness was not to last, in one swoop Sarabi lost both Mufasa and Simba, killed in a stampede of wildebeest. Scar soon assumed the throne with Sarafina and Zira as his queens and she was left to her grief. That didn’t stop Scar from mating with her, spite for the fact she was critical of how he conducted himself as king, and soon she had a second cub: a daughter she named Kula. Try as she might, she could never bond with her daughter as she had with her son. She didn’t hate Kula, but the young cub reminded her so much of both Simba and Scar respectively that she could never grow close to her.
But her son was not dead, Simba returned to Priderock and challenged Scar for the throne. The usurper king couldn’t hope to win the fight when Nala and Sarabi rallied the lionesses to his side and so he and his most loyal followers fled the Pridelands, Kula among them. Whilst sad to see her daughter choose her father’s side, she was overjoyed to have her first-born back and in his place as king. Soon she also had grandchildren to dote on as well and things could not be looking more positive for the future despite the threat of Scar and his followers still lingering in the distance.
Then her son was murdered and the war began. Sarabi’s heart broke again when she thought she finally had her long-lost son returned to her but she focused on caring for her grandchildren whilst hostilities continued to grow. When it turned out her son had been assassinated by Jasper and possibly Nala as well, Sarabi took the teenage cubs and fled the Dawnseekers with her sisters in hopes of protecting them from any possible backlash.
Now, she has to protect her grandchildren and make sure what happened to her family doesn’t repeat itself with them.
