Full Name: Shan Yu
Known Aliases:
Army: Blackblood Legion
Rank: Overseer (General)
Franchise: Mulan
Gender: Male
Age: 38
Personality: He is ruthless and merciless, and is definitely not above killing enemies to prove his point. He is also known to be merciless to defenseless innocents, as evidenced by the burning of the village in Tung Shao Pass. Despite his brutality, or probably because of it, he is a respected leader, as his Hun army seems to be kept together out of loyalty to him, rather than out of fear of him. Shan Yu is also supremely confident in both his and his army's strength and superiority, sometimes allowing his enemies the advantage in order to prove his might.
Backstory: Born to a small Hun tribe in Mongolia, a young Shan Yu grew up with an overbearing, warlord father, who taught him to show no mercy to the enemy. His training started young, until he proved to his father that he could hold his own in a fight against him. As a gift from father to son, Shan Yu was given his sword and falcon, who he named Hayabusa.
One day, while the tribe was going about their daily life, a band of rogue Chinese soldiers appeared, and began to attack without warning. The now teenage Shan Yu scrambled to protect his people, but he was struck by an enemy sword, and passed out from a blow to the back of his head. When he came to, he found the village ransacked and on fire in some parts, and very few survivors. His father and mother did not make it. This lit an unstoppable inferno within the teenage Shan Yu, and he vowed a silent vengeance against China for what they had done to his people. He then gathered the Huns that were left, and they swore their allegiance to the young chieftain, as they set out to conquer China. Along the way, they gathered more soldiers who joined their cause, as they had experienced similar outcomes at the hands of the Chinese.
Following the events of Mulan, Shan Yu miraculously survived, jumping off the firework just before it exploded. However, because of his proximity to the explosion, he did not escape unscathed. He retained burn marks on one side of his body, ranging from 2nd to 3rd degree burns. He managed to escape the Forbidden City unseen, and tended to his wounds. Once he recovered, he swore revenge against Mulan for foiling his plans, and luckily for him, he'd found just the cause to help him do it: the Blackblood Legion.
After a lengthy trip to Agrabah, Shan Yu immediately sought out their leader, and pledged his allegiance to their cause. Because of his former role of commanding a small army, he was promoted to overseer, and general of the army. And he silently hoped that maybe, just maybe, he'd find Mulan and Shang on the other side of the war and be able to execute his plans.
