“Lay down you dammed beast!” Mega had been hunting Yearling moose calf for the past half hour and both predator and prey were plum beat. The moose was bleeding heavily from the large gashes on his sides and flanks,a frothy mix of form dribbling from it’s maw as it stands there head lowers in an attempt to fend off the huge lion’s attack’s. Boldly Mega had decided to bring down the teen by himself for the moment, this would be enough prey to feed the pride for at least a few days, after all he did enjoy the taste of fresh raw meat better then what the camp cooks made

Anga didn’t really like the cool weather much, but they were young and brash and had things to prove dammit. The hyena had gone out to retrieve food. This was the usual task for predatory animals when there was downtime. The upside to having the animals hunt was that anything they brought back didn’t need to have bullets or shot removed. Anga was pretty happy to feel like they had at least something of a place.
They were carrying back a trio of cottontails in their mouth when a commotion drew their attention. They could recognize the racket and the pungent odor like anything -- one of those stupid Pride Landers. Anga obviously didn’t care much for lions. Considering the treatment their kind have suffered at the hands of them back at home, Anga was assured that some righteous indignation was warranted… at bare minimum.
Rabbits dangled limply from their legs in their mouth as Anga turned out from the underbrush to look. Of course it had to be a male too -- they tended to murder clanmates more than the females. Anga lifted a brow and then bowed their neck to set their kills on the ground. Anga had no intention of helping, even though the lion seemed to be having a bit of a time. They just sat down and watched.
“This ought to be a laugh.”
Regardless of what they said, and of their species, Anga’s tone was flat and unimpressed.

(Sorry Mega)
A deafening roar sounded from just beyond the treeline. A blur of fur breezed easily over Mega's head and slammed into the moose calf sending both parties tumbling to the ground in a mess of limbs, calls of distress from the calf, and fierce snarls. when the dust had finally settled, a huge lion stood with the moose calf's neck clamped in his jaws. Upon seeing Mega he promptly dropped the carcass again and then his eye caught the strange animal who seemed to be watching the whole spectacle go down.
"Oh, my bad." he apologised "I just saw the moose, I didn't see you there as well. We can split and call it even?"
The other cat was smaller than he was but he was sure that there would be more than enough meat for the both of them. It had been an honest mistake and not done out of any sense of malice or intent to steal another predator's kill. He liked to think he was better than having someone else do all the hard work whilst he swooped in at the last minute to deal the final blow.
"I didn't even realise there were any other cats 'round here...and I don't even know what you are." he added, looking at the hyena.

“Ah, what in the-“ the large shape of the other feline suddenly appearing made the older lion jerk back in surprise as they promptly made the kill-his kill, Well the pride’s really but still Mega wasn’t about to allow some complete stranger snag his calf. Brow furrowed Mega opens his maw to voice his annoyance before the big cat spoke first
"Oh, my bad." he apologised "I just saw the moose, I didn't see you there as well. We can split and call it even?"
“It’s for my pride exactly, I would appreciate it if I could have the whole kill actually” he spoke, his expression still of slight annoyance
"I didn't even realise there were any other cats 'round here...and I don't even know what you are."
“My pride comes from across the sea from Africa. Our homelands were destroyed-it’s uh-“ he pauses as he gets his first look at the hyena having not noticed it before but continues speaking. “A long story. My name’s Mega”

Anga had initially instinctively crouched down to grab their rabbits and move, hearing the roar. They paused however and stood where they were, slowly lifting their head, with their kills dangling from their mouth. They half-rolled their eyes.
Why are lions dinguses? Even all the way up here.
They watched and listened for a few seconds, before their ears flicked back in annoyance. The pride’s was it? Um, hello? What about the rest of the Dawnseekers? Stupid pride. If they only wanted to serve themselves, they might as well just leave the army. Indignant, the sub-adult hyena began to stomp closer.
But about halfway there, they looked off to their side in thought. The big lion, regardless of size, seemed youthful and probably more likely to relate to Anga. Hopefully. Or maybe he’d be just another butthead lion. Anga had to try to talk some sense into him though, before the stupid pride brainwashed him. But no one liked pushy people. Anga’s stride grew more composed and they finally set their rabbits down at their feet in order to speak.
“It’s the Dawnseekers’s kill actually. We share, right? We’re all in this together, right?,” after briefly glossing Mega over with a sharp look, they gazed up at the other lion, “I was going to bring these rabbits right to the mess hall. If you’re friendly, I think our group will let you into camp too.”
Anga paused for a few seconds, appearing to become more comfortable.
“I’m a hyena. Kinda… like the wolves you have here but with a much stronger bite.”
Anga bit back the urge to mention the horrible way the Pride Landers treated their kind -- but no, they’d better save that bombshell of truth for another time.

Aujaq's ear flicked back in annoyance when the other lion made it clear he wanted the whole kill. He did admit that he had messed up the other lion's hunt but it seemed rather selfish of him to claim the whole thing when he had made the kill and deserved at least a little of the meat. Besides, the other cat was smaller and probably didn't need it all to himself, pride or not, he could spare a leg or something. Were all the cats from this place called Africa so small yet so greedy?
The arrival of the other animal prevented him from speaking, however, as they seemed to lay into the lion as well for claiming the kill. Still, their words sparked both confusion and curiosity in him. Dawnseekers? Never heard of any such thing but then again he had only recently come this far north. Perhaps things were different here than the plains he was born on.
"I thought this was unoccupied territory, honestly. I was thinkin' I might actually settle down here."
He hadn't seen another cat, be they cougar, or smilodon, or even another lion like himself before now. Still this...hyena? Whatever that was, was saying that it actually had a claimant. Aujaq rolled his shoulders, figuring that the strange hyena seemed much more reasonable than the other lion did. Still, he found the fact that a lion and another predator seemed to be working together and living together in a group very very odd indeed.
"I'm friendly enough." he said, turning to address the hyena specifically "I'm interested to see this "camp" you've got. Name's Aujaq but some call me Ajax because they say it's easier on the tongue."
