The young male lion stretched, trying to situate himself in the sun, the ground beneath him heated by his body. Kopa adored the sun. Contrary to what one might believe, he adored it. His father would always take him hunting, in bright daylight. He loved the sun and it reminded him of a time when things were simple. But it also brought great sadness. It brought back memories that would make him sob hard, long into the night. Kopa looked around at the now finished camp. It hadn't taken long, he supposed. Kopa got up and tried to relax his shoulders, a long sigh coming from the lion. Everything had changed.
So many things had changed. His sister was a council member, and so was Shani. Which sort of worried him in all honesty. And what was he? A good soldier? Pah! No, he wasn't. And to be quite honest, it didn't take him long to figure out that he'd have to apologize for his actions. But why should he? It wasn't like they were much better, were they? And Boso? Oh man, it took all Kopa's willpower not to punch that idiot in the face.
Kopa glanced around the camp, trying to see if space around him was clear. Kopa wasn't sure whether to sigh in relief or boredom. The more he sat around to think, the more he realized how he was just sitting there, doing nothing. Why hadn't the Blackbloods gotten bad luck? Why were all of the really bad luck on Kopa and the rest of the Dawnseekers lately? It sickened Kopa, honestly. But the more he thought about this, the more his mind kept switching to if he was going to apologize. Oh please? Why? He didn't see a reason to. Maybe he was too proud to. Who knows? But what he did know was that he wasn't gonna apologize, unless they outright forced it. And even then, he'd be stubborn.
Kopa wondered if he should actually apologize, a frown on his face. Then that frown turned into a disgusted look. Then it turned neutral. He wouldn't budge. He wouldn't move. He was so focused on this one aspect, of not apologizing because he didn't feel the needed to. But some part of his mind asked him. Was he really that stubborn and arrogant? Kopa decided not to answer the question his mind bestowed upon him. He banished it from his mind. It was gone.
But Kopa wasn't sure.
Was he?
