Love is like the wind

[Mega]

Mega stares out at the large lake that was situated a mile or so from the camp, the main water source for all the soliders. The older man's mind was currenty somewhere else as the decision as to Kopa's fate. He was on his own, the words shocked the male as they were utted from the council members it was to much of a risk they had said, that Kopa knew the risk and he had failed to see the outcome of what could and ultimately did happen to him. Mega hadn't turned to see the reaction of Kopa's family members faces, those in the crowd. Mega was brought back to the present as a fish leapt out of the water, catching a low flying bug before vanishing back under the ripping water. Yet Mega obeyed the rule that was now put into action, no one was to go or risk losing another solider. So here the male was sitting in the quiet of the lake side just watching the night pass by

[Sabini]

Sabini sighed heavily, her breath frosting the air as she looked at the large lake, swallowing nervously, as she sat on her own, surrounded by the vast camp, as her eyes scanned back and forth for anything to focus her vision on. She saw Sabini a few paces ahead and got to her feet, and went over to him, tapping him on the shoulder gently, a bright smile on her face. “Um hey there.” She said, giggling softly as she sat down beside him, “i-I’m sorry to intrude, but you looked lonely, and I thought that you could use some comfort perhaps...” She sighed again. “I know I could...” She added more to herself then to Mega, as she looked up at the sky, watching the colors all meld together into one big seemingly blurry image.

[Mega]

“Um hey there.”

Was he hearing things? After months on the battle front Mega longed to see his family again, his cubs, his beloved mate and his good friend Leo. Had Kopa’s judgment finally broke him? No, her scent was here as well as a sudden touch of a paw to his shoulder and he turns facing his mate, red colored orbs just staring in shock as she continued to speak.

“I-I’m sorry to intrude, but you looked lonely, and I thought that you could use some comfort perhaps...” She sighed again. “I know I could...”

“Sabini? How....?” He croaked out suddenly

[Sabini]

Sabini smiled gently at him as he nuzzled him softly, before shrinking away, afraid of how he would react. “I-I’m so sorry, I’ve been away for so long. I’ve really missed you..” She said, her eyes staring into his with equal passion and love. Oh, how she had longed to be able to look into his eyes again !! It had been too long. Her tail flicked back and forth as she yawned. She nuzzled against Mega as she closed her eyes, quickly relaxing as the only sounds that filled the twilight were the soft serenade of crickets and the slow and gentle rise and fall of Sabini’s breathing as she eventually drifted off to sleep, still snuggled against Mega.

[Mega]

“I-I’m so sorry, I’ve been away for so long. I’ve really missed you..”

“Sorry? I sent you away to keep you and the others safe. What are you even sorry for?” He stands now slowly moving to get a drink trying to clear his mind and figure out what to do. Did he want his wife here? Most certainly, could she eventually be in danger, again yes. Mega frown at his reflection for a moment then turned to the lioness. “what happened? Leo, the kids, did they escape once the blackbloods took over the pridelands? Where are they?” Mega knew that even his children were Kopa’s age they would always be his little cubs to him. It was just habit 

[Sabini]

Sabini opened her eyes again as she looked at Mega. “I-I don’t know, Mega...I-I just ran and didn’t look back...” She said, flattening her ears in guilt as she sighed and closed her eyes, forcing her to exhale. “I-I’m sure Leo is taking good care of our little ones though, he wouldn’t let any harm come to them. And I’m sorry for not staying away, I just missed you too much, and I just wanted to see that you were okay with my own eyes.” The sleek lioness said, as she looked around, the quiet darkness now engulfing the pair, and threatening to suffocate them, if they dared to move another step.

[Mega]

“I-I don’t know, Mega...I-I just ran and didn’t look back...”

Mega had a dumbstruck look on his face now as he stares, was this really his wife? The same lioness that took down a whole zebra by herself, the one who protected their children from a grump honey badger, was this really the same Sabini. Did war really change people?

“Sabini....why?” His voice came out a ugly hiss of disgust

“I-I’m sure Leo is taking good care of our little ones though, he wouldn’t let any harm come to them. And I’m sorry for not staying away, I just missed you too much, and I just wanted to see that you were okay with my own eyes.”

“I have no doubt they are in good hands” he muses, staring at the ground now, face shifting into a glare. “How did you even find us? The freedom fighters are dead”

[Sabini]

Sabini’s ears flattened in disgust as she heard Mega’s voice twist into a hiss. “How dare you hiss at me ? I’m sorry I came, because I wanted to see my own husband.” She spat, as her tail lashed in irritation. “If you don’t want me here, then just say so, and I will turn right around and go back to where I came from.” The lioness explained as she turned her back to Mega so her husband wouldn’t have to see the tears streaming down her muzzle. Why was Mega being so indifferent to her ? Did he really not love her anymore ? Was this really her husband ?

[Mega]

His ears just jerk back at the accusing tone of his mate as he stares at her. The annoyed now turning frustrated expression on his face. “You know I want you here, it’s just that I fear for your safety like everyone else does for their loved one” he says, chest tight now. “Things happened over the past few days, we-we had to leave someone to their fate...emotions are high right now Sabini. That’s it” he explains, pushing his muzzle against her shoulder trying to find some sort of comfort. “Kopa was foolish, When you said you just left the kids and Leo I thought you might off...” he trails off voice cracking

[Sabini]

Sabini sighed and nodded as she turned around, now facing Mega, as she pushed her muzzle into Mega’s thick mane, as she closed her eyes and tried to relax. The lioness felt comfort in being with the lion in this moment, but worry tangled like a serpent in her gut, she was worried for their children. ‘What if something had happened to Leo that left the cubs defenseless ?’ No. She couldn’t think like that, she scolded to herself, as she shook her head, as if trying to chase the bad thoughts away. She had to stay strong, for her cubs, for Mega, and for her pride. “I love you Mega, I’m glad I’m here... And I can’t wait till our family is whole again..” She murmured as she looked down to her paws.
